What is design for manufacturability?

Design for manufacturability is the practice of engineering a part so it can be produced reliably, repeatably, and cost-effectively — before tooling is ever cut. Good DFM catches fill, porosity, tolerance, and material issues on the drawing, not on the production floor where they’re expensive to fix.

MES applies DFM across die casting, forging, extrusion, and machining. Because our engineers aren’t tied to selling one process, they recommend the process, alloy, and supplier that fit your part’s geometry, volume, and application — then engineer it to your spec so it comes off the line right the first time.
